NaturalFaCe and General Pype in the studioNaturalFaCe, is preparing to make a gallant comeback this month after he thrilled the industry with his ‘So High’ hit single months ago.

He is currently in the studio with Nigeria’s dancehall star General Pype recording what is being touted as a club banger.

General Pype is one of Nigeria’s reggae/dancehall icons. Born in Ogun State, he was raised in Lagos. He got introduced to music through church, and in 1998, while attending secondary school, he joined an acapella group which developed into the Triumphant Chorale Voices, one of Nigeria’s top classical groups. Although he flourished with the choir, in 2005 he made the switch to dancehall and reggae music and picked the name of PYPE which stands for ‘Prolific Youth Positive Entertainer’.

Pype is known for doing numerous collaborations with fellow artistes in different genres. At the 2009 MTVBase Music Awards, he performed his track ‘Teaser’ together with popular Nigerian rapper MI and Lira from South Africa. In 2010, ‘Mara hio hio’ was released, a track he recorded in Kenya with Sauti Sol and Sasha.

The upcoming single with NaturalFaCe is titled ‘Heart Breaker’ and is being produced by Kobolo Music. It will be released under Bullhaus Entertainment and Obalende Records.

“Ghanaian music enthusiasts should just watch out. It is another good song coming from NaturalFaCe and now teaming up with General Pype from Nigeria. I can only say they should watch out,” Bulldog, CEO of Bullhaus Entertainment, told NEWS-ONE.

NaturalFaCe is currently a household name in Ghana. At the last edition of the 4syte TV Music Video Awards, he surprisingly beat all the big names in Ghana’s music industry to emerge the overall Best Music Video award winner. He won with the video of his hit song ‘So High.’

After ‘So High’ was released, it started gaining recognition on international platforms as it made it on a European chart on www.urbantop100.nl and ranked 90 ahead of international songs including superstar actress and musician Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Dance Again’ and Young Jeezy’s ‘Leave You Alone’.

The Return Of Kofi B

$

Digital CameraGhana’s high life sensation Kofi Boakye Yiadom, aka Kofi B, who was attacked by thugs recently in Accra, has announced that all is set for the release of his latest album by the end of this month.

Kofi B’s fame in Ghana’s music industry is common to the ordinary Ghanaian; however, his latest album entitled ‘Odo Nyemra’ featuring Sarkodie is a presentation of great lyrical contents.

Though all the seven tracks are not so different from the usual contemporary highlife composition of his type of music, the general orchestration, instrumentation and lyrical delivery are quite interesting. The album spews out a brilliant presentation, with Kofi B exhibiting his unique lyrical prowess.

The release of Kofi B’s latest album, according to him, would boost the image of contemporary high life music in Ghana and beyond.

Although highlife music has been suffering over the years due to the rapid growth of hiplife and raglife music in Ghana, some staunch highlife musicians like Kofi B are strong in their resolve to sustain the good old traditional music.

Kofi B, whose main aim is to reach the top of the ladder and also make it onto the international music market told BEATWAVES, “I am still working tirelessly on the album which has all the stuff to meet the demand of music lovers”.

He declared that he does not believe in coming out with just any album, saying it is important for the songs to make a dent on the mind of every music lover as soon as it hits the market.

Kofi B’s album, which has eight danceable tracks with a unique mix of neatly arranged lyrics with sensational and inspirational rhythms, glamorous video, would be released by the end of this month.

Kofi’s latest album has distinctive features in terms of arrangement, beat and style; a new dimension in our current highlife music dispensation.

The album is full of catchy, easy to sing along with tunes with immense commercial potential.

It is set to create stiff competition for established artistes, particularly those in the highlife music field and pre-release comments on the album from a section of music fans are mind-blowing.

Kofi B is a modern day highlife musician who stays true to the rudiments of the genre. He literally jumped into the spotlight from nowhere with his solemn and thought provoking hit song, ‘Mmobrowa’ some years back.

He has some Ghana Music Award wins and nominations to his credit. He is currently working on new material and is set release another album soon.

Some of his popular songs include ‘Twa me keke’, ‘Mmobrowa’, ‘Aserewa’, ‘Koforidua Flowers’, ‘Sika dwa’, ‘Belinda’, ‘Akua Ataa’.

Jael_May2013_white (5)A few years ago, the Ghanaian gospel scene was wowed by a vivacious female songstress whose funk and contemporary style coupled with her distinct sound and alluring spiritual lyrics made her a favourite of many gospel music lovers across the country.

Her repertoire of hits included “Wagye Me” “Meyi Waye” “Gye Me” and many other hit songs from four albums spanning over 5 years.

Jael Wiafe became a mainstay on the music scene staying true to her style and setting the pace for many of the unconventional acts in her genre today.

In the midst of it all, the songstress decided to take a break resulting in a long hiatus from the music industry.

Her numerous fans will however be happy to learn that, the spirited contemporary gospel music act is returning to the gospel music fold, reborn and better than ever with the release of her new single titled “Adonai.”

According to Jael, her break from the gospel music scene was a move aimed at enabling her to take a much needed spiritual journey to strengthen her spiritual relationship with God in order to truly be able to affect and inspire the lives of people with her music.

“Adonai” is therefore the first in a series of soul inspiring songs off her upcoming album set to be launched in July.

The album is a culmination of her years of re-examining her spirituality and deepening her resolve to impact people’s lives and pursue the work of God with her music as well as other projects she is set to embark on in the coming months.

Her latest single, is a clear indication that, just like her evergreen good looks and amazing voice, the enchanting songstress has not lost any of her youthful spark, energy and funky touch as she brings more of her unique style of gospel music, which is a fusion of African, Caribbean, and western music to bare on the song.

The music video for “Adonai” will be released on all major networks nationwide on 27th May, 2013.

I Never Called Herty Thief – Cwesi Oteng

cwesi_oteng4Winner of the Gospel Album of the Year, Cwesi Oteng, has expressed shock and disappointment at news reports quoting him to have said that colleague gospel musician, Herty Bongreat, stole some awards meant for him at the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

“It is a big lie. I have said no such thing so I do not know why some journalists would have the courage to put such negative words in my mouth and put it in quotes as though I have said them.

Aside having a good academic education, I was brought up in a good home so I don’t talk without thinking.

But it is understandable that some people may have their own motives and hidden agenda,” Cwesi told NEWS-ONE.

According to Flex newspaper, Cwesi Oteng made these damning remarks against Herty while speaking to Kofi De-Aqua, host of Agoo Entertainment Centre on Agoo 103.5 FM when the host asked his views on the Gospel Artiste of the year category.

Kofi De-Aqua has however denied that Cwesi said such a thing on his programme.

Sounding rather disappointed, Cwesi told NEWS-ONE: “When Herty won the award, I was one of the very first persons to congratulate her.

I publicly tweeted to congratulate her just as I did for Nicholas Omani Acheampong although we were all nominated for same category.

But no one saw this to write about it. Rather people have decided to twist my words and put them out and go ahead for weeks to spread the false report that makes me sound rude or as someone who does not practice what he preaches.

“But hey, humans may have their agenda and machinations, but it is the God of heaven I really look up to.

It is He who has brought me this far and He is my motivation and inspiration, not someone seated somewhere tarnishing my image.”

Significantly, Herty Bongreat last Friday had a rather cordial meeting with managers of Cwesi Oteng and had talks on how best to move Ghanaian gospel music to a higher level.

Though Cwesi and Herty competed for the same awards, Cwesi’s managers showed no animosity whatsoever during the meeting and even assured her that their artiste was more mature than someone who would stoop to such low levels.

Herty also spoke to NEWS-ONE about the development: “I disregarded the story when I saw it but how many people would know it is not true especially when the writers still insist it is true.

We should be seen as members of the body of Christ with a common goal of propagating the message of Christ through music.

I have never heard Cwesi talk negative about anyone and I want the public to know that there is no bad blood between us so we should not let such negative reports create a division or some enmity among our respective fans.

We are one people working for one master and that is Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.”

Herty’s manager and publicist DJ Sapee, a gospel show presenter at Montie FM speaking over the development said the false reports were from a section of the media that has in recent times become unconstructively critical of Herty.

“There are some people who have an interest in other gospel musicians so they would go all out to run others down.

What they forget is that bringing someone down does not automatically put you on top.

It is hard work and God’s blessings that put you on top. Not evil plots to create confusion.

“I myself, Herty and her husband have all become subjects of negative reports filled with insults and malice by these same persons.

We can only leave them to God and keep working even harder to justify the trust people have in us,” Sapee added and expressed gratitude to Herty’s supporters and fans for standing by her.
